Obituary for William Vernon �Vernie� Keene William Vernon �Vernie� Keene, 59, of Bicknell, IN, passed away Tuesday August 25, 2015 at 3:40 AM at the Willow Manor Nursing Center, with his brother by his bedside. Vernie was born February 2, 1956 in Bicknell the son of Robert Maxa & Mary Catherine Malone Keene. He served his country in the U.S. Army and he was a true Christian soul. He practiced the golden rule and followed the teachings of Christ, �Love Thy Neighbor�, �Forgive, and turn the other cheek�. He was a loyal true friend. He was associated with the Wampler Shaw Funeral Home and then with the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel for many years. He formerly worked for the City of Bicknell in the Street Department and held memberships in the French Club, Bruceville Rod and Gun Club and the Bicknell Nazarene Church. He is survived by his brothers, Larry E. Keene of Vincennes, IN and Roy M. Keene, and his wife Debbie of Ragsdale, IN. He loved his neices, nephews, great neices and nephews as his own children. He will be missed by everybody who was a friend, relative or his fellow co workers. Vernie was preceded in death by his parents, nine sisters, Bertha Lagneau, Anita Jean May, Elma Lee Hollars, Minnie Phipps, Charlotte Smith, Janice Kay McCrary, Sharon Sue Ellerman, Julie Shoptaw, Phyllis Ann Keene. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday August 29, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Duesterberg-Fredrick Wampler Shaw Chapel with Pastor Ralph Clark officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Bicknell Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday August 28, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Bicknell Nazarene Church for the Children�s Program.
